Chris is the founder and Managing Partner of Chur Associates, which thrives in delivering business friendly solutions for its clients and having a niche positioning of “Everything Real Estate” serving the entire value chain from the upstream to the downstream.
Chris is deeply involved in the real estate industry. Having assisted Dato’ Alan Tong as the World President of FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) 2005/ 2006 as part of his FIABCI Presidential Task Force in relation to constitutional and policy matters as well as the setting up of the FIABCI Asia Pacific Regional Secretariat and the FIABCI East Asia Multinational Chapter. Chris is now the Honorary Legal Adviser for the said Regional Secretariat on regional concerns (www.fiabci-asiapacific.com). In addition to his service as an evaluator of the prestigious Malaysia Property Award™, Chris is elected to serve the Malaysian Chapter (www.fiabci.com.my) for two terms from 2006 to 2010 as its National Council Members. Chris was appointed to the Board of Directors of FIABCI International (www.fiabci.org) to preside over the portfolio of Young Members aged 35 and below (www.fiabciyouth.com) for the term 2009/ 2010. For his effort, Chris was awarded with the FIABCI Medal of Honour for his outstanding services to FIABCI, one of the youngest ever recipient of such honour in the history of FIABCI. Chris has also committed in delivering papers on real estate related legal issues locally and overseas. Chris also extends his comments regarding Real Estate for Malaysia’s Daily Newspapers such as NST Red, China Press and world known article publishers including Wall Street Journal. Chris was praised as being the first lawyer on Edge Malaysia as a commentator and for speaking at the Edge Investment Forum on Real Estate 2009.
With such background, Chris was part of the Technical Committee under the National Economic Action Council of the Prime Minister’s Department to devise strategies to stimulate the property sector in Malaysia responsible for the blue print of the Malaysia Property Inc (www.malaysiapropertyinc.com) set up under Prime Minister Abdullah's administration as the very first Public-Private Initiative (PPI).
His involvement in the ASEAN Business Advisory Council also enables his contribution towards the regional integration of ASEAN and the greater integration of East Asia that include the emerging giants of China and India. This is particularly useful for clients intending for regional expansion. Being appointed as the Secretary of Operation that facilitates the organisation of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2005 is a testament of Chris’ ability in handling regional issues. His very own CHUR ASSOCIATES has strategic affiliations in Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Auckland, Colombo, Beijing, Phnom Penh, Ventiene and most recently closer to home, Sabah.
For many years now since his commencement as a practicing lawyer, Chris gives in-house advice to the country’s only integrated Industrial Waste Management Center at Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Chris has negotiated many contracts with multinational corporations on pertinent issues in the handling of hazardous and toxic wastes such as the regulatory limitations, treaty provisions, pollution, transboundary movements, treatment methods and costs. Chris was actively involved in their business expansion plan into waste recovery and recycling as well as other services throughout the value chain.
Chris has keen interests in the media and entertainment industry; and has gathered a considerable amount of clients as a result of his in-depth understanding of the industry. Chris is a recognized music author that has been granted membership from MACP since 2003. His close relation with the media also made him a friendly target as an international conference speaker on legal related current issues to institutional investors, retail investors and he is also preferred moderator for forums and seminars.
Being the entrepreneur that he is, Chris also speaks as the guest host on BFM 89.9 sharing his views on entrepreneurship, legal related matters. He was recently featured as one of the Guru in latest season of Pimp My Biz and Speed Consulting Assistance on the station. Adding to his array of armory, Chris published his very first book “Turning Green” sharing the ways of a “Green Sugar Merchant” as a revolutionized model of the Blue Ocean Strategies to both business and life. His interest also expands to speaking at private and public universities to students on growth, youth empowerment and sustainability models.
