Fly Me to The Moon
So they said, only 10% of businesses survived the first 5 years. So we are only too pleased to have celebrated our “Hi5” in style last year. We made the cut.
So they said again, only 10% out of the same 10% would survive the next 5 years. So we are marching towards completing our 6th year now with hope to not only survive but thrive towards the rest of the second 5 years.
2009 however marks the continuation of the challenging time globally and things are not moving as quickly as we have experienced in the first 5 years. This has driven me into a lot of soul searching in navigating the journey of CA as a “Green Sugar Merchant”.
CA is at an embarrassing age as a business, like a teenager mocking stuffs on an adult. We all been there in one way another, remember those fun that we had doing things that we are considered underage? Exciting, isn’t it? Yet, this is where we are most vulnerable and easily making ill-informed decisions.
We have gone through most of the growing pains but what’s next? While the status quo is deceivingly comfortable, we must not allow complacency to kick in like the frog swimming comfortably in the slowly boiling water. We must jump out the water before we are cooked!
There is only one direction for CA in this challenging time. This is the best time to look inward, to test, challenge and thus strengthen the CA team, so that we are ready, able and willing to catch the next wave while the same shall carry us through this uneventful period.
That led me to our next question, what are we willing to give in order to take? My little experience told me that we should not look for the easy way out but rather take the most important equation in the CA business proposition out to “give” away. It is obvious to me that CA needs to reexamine our promise of “We Deliver” and take it to the next level.
In short, we need to give ourselves a self-imposed challenge or an adversity of sorts. Yes, self-imposed. No kidding! Challenge and adversity in the right context, are the mothers of all greatness! How do we keep the motivation high in this “artificial” adversity?
This is like the mission to Moon propagated by President Kennedy, “We Choose to Go to the Moon; not because it is easy but because it is HARD!”
CA must therefore find a mission where we as a team are willing to commit and unwilling to postpone! Toying with the number 6 (as we are celebrating our 6th anniversary soon), we have gone from the initial “6-nificant” to the ultimate “6nature” of CA that clearly define your distinctive experience of services provided by CA. We have found our mission to the Moon, our gift to share with each and every one of you as we are celebrating another glorious chapter in our journey.
Like the Moon, “6nature” is not easy. It requires higher commitments and extreme discipline from every one in the team as well as strong support system to ensure precision delivery all the time.
The execution might not be perfect; the result might not be as desirable too. We might even fail in this unprecedented mission. However, CA is not created to be just ordinary and my team demands greatness from CA. They are here in CA to be part of the Championship winning team, the one that wins year after year.
We must therefore start this mission as we believe that it is how we deal with the outcome that defines CA as a team!
I know CA is worth it.
