The practice of time recording and date keeping are just the brilliance on mankind in identifying the law of nature. The message behind is simple, I think.
There is an end to everything and after that there is another new one begins. Having an end makes everything more beautiful while having a new one immediately after gives you hope to start afresh. The end is just the beginning of another end.
I guess the act of sleeping and waking up is another great messages of nature that mankind endured.
I woke up for a brand new day today. In fact, I woke up to a brand new year today having celebrated in a traditional ritual that we proudly called “Count Down” and the lavish firework across the skyline of my beautiful city. Now, I can’t wait for a glimpse of the first sun of the New Year and the warming sensation of its first ray touching my self-regenerated skin.
Like everyone else (and all the cells in my body), my world today is a regeneration and I have a full 365 days to look forward to again (and you get a one-day bonus for every four-year that you survived – that’s a great leap thus a leap year).
Yet the most simple of things are often taken by granted. We often forgot and learned justification in the process so that we can sleep better at night. After all, we live in the reality that we individually choose to live in.
In another words, while we all wake up for a new year today none of our worlds are the same. Nothing has a meaning but for the meaning that we choose to give. The red I see in my vision is not exactly the same red that you see.
Mankind created many tools for generations (time keeping, language, religion, science, internet etc) to seek for the common (or the “truth” as some of us just love to put it that way) only to realise the greater differences in the process. To this end, I guess Confucius has summed it well when he has enlightened the world with “What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others”.
Celebrating New Year gives everyone hope that you have realistic chance to make amend for things that you have done and a full year is an appealing time frame to do just that. We therefore set goals and make resolutions.
Celebrating the future? Celebrating the past? Spare a moment for the PRESENT! There is nothing more REAL than this very moment that we are breathing in right now. Take it in deep and long, let all the cells in your body celebrate the New Year as well...
