It is all part of the journey, so they said… I could not agree more!

Most of the time, it is all about the process, the end results don’t really matters. There is only so much you can do or sacrifice, the rest is not within your control.

Business wise, there can be as much brain-storming and goal-setting that one can do, the rest is execution; putting ideas into action – the enjoyable part of the game! Results are important but most definitely no “Judgment Day” if it doesn’t work at the early stages! That’s why there are appeal jurisdiction in court and similarly a restart for any PS2 games.

I always enjoy the journey, philosophically and literally. It is during all these journeys that my thoughts get organized to be clearer on the next move before indulging in the same.

These literal journeys that I am talking about are the journeys home from working everyday or traveling on business, like what I am doing now coming back from Singapore after yet another successful PR exercise for CA and myself personally at the 2nd FIABCI Asia Pacific Property Exhibition held at the SUNTEC City. My mind gets clearer and rejuvenated somehow after a “journey”.

Similarly, CA has adopted the very first theme for 2007 by acknowledging that “Clarity is Power” and everything we do from now on shall be along the line of creating more clarity and celebrating transparency.

Everyone in CA has agreed during our internal review exercise recently that being clear is the greatest form of empowerment. This ensures sustainable efficiency through effective work delegation and load sharing enabled by being clear.

At this juncture, I would like to thank all my team at CA for a wonderful birthday present – “Green Dragon”, I promise that I will wear it for a long-long time and when people ask about it, I shall proudly tell them that it is a thoughtful gift from peoples that meant a lot to me – my most energetic CA team.

I think we have the right mix at CA after three (3) initial years of soul-searching. We can most definitely expand on this. We are constantly looking for new recruits and offering internship opportunity for a taste of the “Green” CA culture. On a long term basis, we are even looking at offering CA scholarship to students on an EQ excellence basis – in CA, we believe in good character and positive attitude; every other thing can come after that.

As for the friends of CA, may I offer you the most effective CA service hotline at +60123279799 if there is any short-comings (or plus points) in CA services. We can only improve with your valuable input. Because you care, we cannot afford to slip up.

A lot of things have happened since I last pen my management journal mid last month (similarly, since I last pen this edition of the management journal at the journey home from Singapore); here are the highlights and my little sharing for each of them:

21 October – First 3-year review and planning for CA @ CAD: a fateful day to pour our hearts out for some timely reality checks, good practice to be repeated now as a yearly event.

29 October – Attended a soft launch for a well-established e-learning service from Taiwan ROC: if services can be promoted and offered through a MLM model enabled by technology, the real limit to business is only our mind and our execution thereafter. Franchising legal…?

6 November – CA turns 3! Attended a seminar on SME Banking and Financing: the big boys are going towards the SME, a traditional hard to manage sector due to the varied and diverse requirements. This is a testimony to Seth Godin’s “Small is the new BIG”! Things are getting more competitive that even the most conservative bankers need to plot their next growth sector – SME. It is revealing in that same seminar that SME does not mind paying more for better services. Therefore, charging less is helpful but certainly not the definite winner.

7 November – Yet another E-learning event: This has strengthened my belief that one must “productise” services in order to leverage. Strange but true, unless people see the physical thing, they do not usually perceive value that require their payment for it accordingly.

9 – 13 November – FIABCI Asia Pacific Regional Secretariat Summit in Manila! Effectively completed my traveling to the original 6 countries of the ASEAN, strategically we can progress as a pack by aligning our resources as a region. However, it remain an ideal, lots of things need to be ironed out. Manila is a beautiful city, thank you for your hospitality! Mabuhay!

16 – 19 November – FIABCI Asia Pacific Property Exhibition in Singapore. Uniquely, Singapore still has an acute link with Malaysia and shall remain so in the future. We shall create synergy with open mind. There are still plenty of Singaporeans interested in Malaysia. May be, the Iskandar (South Malaysia) zoning might just do it for now. We as Malaysians must be committed to make it work, in a truly Asia manner!

25 – 26 November – FIABCI Asia Pacific Visit to FIABCI Ho Chi Minh City. A lot of motorcycles! A lot of people! A lot of potentials!

27 November – CA signed MOU with the largest local law practice in Vietnam – VILAF to form strategic alliance for cross-reference in our legal services. Thanks Duc! We at CA shall take this further as a regional concern.

Lastly, I wish to share a little exchange with a person that I look up to:

I said, “Being 30 can be overbearing for a man…”
His response? … “Wait until you are 40, it is even more interesting…”

Well, I guess he must be right! Looking forward to it and I am beginning to enjoy my journey for the next 10 years!
